Photography
I don’t pretend to be any kind of photography expert. At my best, I’m a novice. Why the page then? Well, firstly, to keep a list of photography sites I like to reference and secondly, to catalog my journey as a budding blogger who desperately needs to learn to take good pictures.

My Photography Equipment
Right now, I’m shooting with a Nikon Coolpix L120 (That’s right, it’s a point-and-shoot) with a tripod. I use two very cheap continuous soft box 200 watt lights, two boards that look like a tabletop (thanks home depot!) and a sheet hung up behind it in my basement. Well, I just upgraded.
To arrive in the mail this month is quite a bit of new photo stuff. I did some serious research, indexing what the food bloggers I look up to use (excel spreadsheets are a good friend of mine) and reading CNet reviews of many different products and the accessories that are truly necessary. Below is a list of my new toys:
- Canon EOS 60D Camera
- Canon EF 50mm f 1.4 Telephoto lens
- Lens Filters (mainly for protection)
- Canon Speedlight 430EX II Flash (for taking pictures outside of my “studio”)
- 750 watt Lowell tota pak light kit (to supplement my soft boxes)
I’ll let you know how it turns out and whether, for a budding blogger, this stuff is worth it. But who am I kidding, you’ll see for yourself. Either my photos will be better, or they wont. :)
